Whitstable Golds season is up and running after dismantling Elham Valley at Park Lane.
Bowling first after losing the toss, the opening bowlers Jaydon Denly (3-13) and Paddy Underhill laid waste the top order, leaving Elham at 0-3. The home team recovered, but further wickets for Joe Clements (2-10), James Miles (1-9), Jacque Barnes (1-9) and Leo Sharp (1-8),backed up by catches from Harrison Legg (2) Jack Whitaker, and Underhill, left the away team chasing 80 to win.
The Golds also got off to a poor start at 14-3, but opener Archie Tennant (14) played a vital anchor role, finally being out in the 14 over, while Legg smashed six 4's in a rapid 31 retired to set up victory.
Whitaker and Tennant then edged the team to the cusp of success, before both being removed. Underhill and Clements then scored the winning runs to give the Golds their first season win.
